About Kossome Media

Kossome Media was founded by Dave Koss

Dave grew up in Grand Prairie, TX. He was encouraged by his parents from a young age to express his creativity in many different fashions. He began piano lessons at age five, bought his first computer from Radio Shack at age 7, and began making videos on his parent's video camera with his younger brother, Andrew at age 9. Armed with only the camera and a VCR, the two edited their videos manually shot by shot by selecting a take, and recording it to the VCR one shot at a time. The two learned to animate digitally using Autodesk Animator in DOS, back before Windows was king. When Dave entered high school, he was introduced by chance to the Television Technology instructors, Billie Donegan and Jerry Cantu. He started coming in after school and between marching band practices to learn graphics and video editing. He joined the program the following year, and at the age of 15, he was editing on the first AVID non-linear system at any school in the state of Texas.

Dave went to college to receive his degree in Radio, Television, Video and Film. While taking classes he got a job popping VHS tabs at a local dub facility. He worked his way up to editing and within a year had his own office with an edit suite. During his time at the facility he would do specialty analysis of tapes for security and law enforcement from time to time. One of those jobs required he testify as an expert witness in the kidnaping trial of Mark Minger. His job was to prove that enhancing the video and audio of a confession did not alter the tape in any way. He did this by comparing waveform analysis of the original and enhanced versions to show that graphically, there were no differences.

Dave was offered a job as a live graphics operator on a concert and speaking tour and moved to Nashville, TN. After a brief stay in Nashville, he moved home to finish school, but continued to tour. After graduating, he continued touring as well as producing videos in the corporate and commercial world. In 2006 he joined the George Strait tour. In 2007 he designed the HD video layout for the tour as well as directed the live concert shows.

Dave continues to travel on the road for portions of the year doing concert production and media consulting for various industries. He continues to produce corporate and commercial video/graphics when he's home. He lives in Euless, TX with his wife, Christi and daughter, Emily. When he's not playing mister mom, he's probably podcasting, editing, experimenting with Cinema 4D, or working on his amateur photography.
